Recently President Pranab Mukherjee has accepted the resignation of V. Shanmuganathan as Governor of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, against whom allegations of seriously compromising the dignity of the gubernatorial office were leveled. Afterwards, President Mukherjee has appointed Banwarilal Purohit, the Governor of Assam, to discharge the functions of the Governor of Meghalaya and Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya, the Governor of Nagaland, to discharge the functions of the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, in addition to their own duties, until regular arrangements for the offices of the Governor of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh are made.

This cryogenic engine of C25 Stage operates on Gas Generator Cycle using extremely low temperature propellants – Liquid Hydrogen (LH2) at 20 Kelvin (-253 deg C) and Liquid Oxygen (LOX) at 80K (-193 deg C). The GSLV-Mark-III rocket fitted with the cryogenic upper stage is expected to lift off 4-tonne class communication satellite in mid-2017.

Vijay Pandurang Bhatkar, a technocrat who is considered the father of the Indian Supercomputer, has been appointed the new Vice-Chancellor of Nalanda University, Rajgir, in Bihar. He will hold the office for a 3-year period from the date of his appointment as per the Nalanda University Act, Sec 11(3).
