Vijay Goel urges schools to motivate students for Sports, Slum Adoption and Heritage Conservation 
The Minister of State (I/C) for Youth Affairs and Sports shri Vijay Goel has said that his ministry is writing to CBSE affiliated schools, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalayas to give Pan India directive to open at least one unit of Scouts and Guides, NSS and NCC in their respective institution so as to make the school curriculum holistic and comprehensive for personality development of the Youth. Addressing a brain storming session on Youth Development here today, he said, Scouting and Guiding organizations is also being requested to modify their fee structure in such a way that all sections of society can afford. Rather they may fix their fee structure institution wise instead of individual. 

He said, the Government of India, under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has embarked on the mission of building a united, strong and modern India – “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”, following the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”. A number of initiatives such as Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Jan Dhan Yojana and ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’. He said special focus is on save rich heritage of India and development of Slums. 

Shri Goel said, his Ministry is engaged in the noble task of providing opportunity for developing the personality and leadership qualities of the youth by involving them in community service and various nation-building activities. This is being done, inter-alia, through two youth volunteering organisations, namely, National Service Scheme (NSS) and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS). 

Shri Goel urged the participants in the brain storming session to motivate youth and engage actively in programmes such as heritage promotion, monuments and slum adoption. He said his ministry is organizing 14 Slum Yuva Daud all over Delhi to motivate children from slums to actively participate in Sports. 

He said his ministry has plans to utilize stadiums in Delhi by inviting schools to organize Inter school tournaments and other sports activities for their students. 

Referring to FIFA world cup U-17 to be held in October this year, Shri Vijay Goel said school students in Delhi will be encourage to watch matches for free in Delhi to promote football and sports culture. He said earmarked free seats will be provided to school students on the first come first serve basis. 

Shri Goel also urged the public schools to encourage for donation of Toys for under privileged children. 

About 1000 representatives of Public Schools, Archeological Survey of India, Local bodies representatives, Secretary Youth Affairs Dr. A. K. Dubey and Senior Officials of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports attended the session to discuss ways on involving youth in NCC, NSS, Scouts & Guides, Social Service and promotion of sports.

Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Vijay Goel flagged off 10th Slum Yuva Daud 
Minister of State (I/C) for Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Vijay Goel here today flagged off the 10th Slum Yuva Daud with Union Minister for Roadways and Transport Shri Nitin Gadkari and Shri Maheish Girri MP. Today’s Daud started from Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, Khichdipur and ended at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Stadium, Trilokpuri. More than 5000 youth from various Delhi slums participated and each of them was awarded medals, t-shirts and certificates. 

Shri Goel interacted with the participants before the daud started and each of them gave him a positive feedback and appreciated the Ministry’s efforts to provide them a platform like this. Some of the youngsters shared their ideas while some sang patriotic songs. Addressing the participants Shri Goel said, “Our aim is to provide the youth of slum something positive so that they do not take to drugs or other anti-social activities. We will also prepare teams in future and hold competitions in football, volleyball etc. so that we are able to find the hidden talent from these slums”. 

Shri Nitin Gadkari praised the initiative of Slum Yuva Daud and said, “Youth has tremendous energy and they must use it to transform India into “New India”. Shri Mahesih Girri interacted with the participants and stated, “Such activities empower the youth and they feel elated. This will surely help us in building Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat”. 

The Slum Yuva Daud is part of the Adopt Slum Campaign initiated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan. Total 10 Slum Yuva Runs have been organized across Delhi so far with mass participation of youth from various Delhi slums.

Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani terms GST as a “Great step towards Transparency” 
The Union Minister for Textiles and Information & Broadcasting Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani says that no one can harass a person who wants to come into formal economy through GST Addressing a seminar on ‘GST – a Tool for Inclusive Growth’ organised in Ahmedabad today, the Minister said past transactions are not to be checked under this system. There will be no punishment for being honest. 

Smt. Irani said if government agencies or officer will ask about past transactions or harasses anyone, direct action will be taken against them. The Minister asked traders and business persons to draw attention of MPs and central ministries, if any such incident occurs. She said that GST is not just ‘Good and Simple Tax’ but it also a ‘Great step towards Transparency’. “Beauty of the GST is it is a Destination tax and it gives money back through Tax credit”, she added. 

Textiles minister said that implementation of GST is an historic event and we are proud to be a witness of such historic event. She said that all parties came on a single platform in GST council for its successful implementation. 

The Minister said that no one wants to be a Tax evader, if the system is transparent and simple. She said and that this is the change that the Union Government is bringing in, under the leadership of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. “Government has taken a number of pro poor steps in its three (3) years, to make system more transparent and simpler through Jan Dhan Yojana, Mudra Yojana, Direct benefit transfer etc. and GST is also a part of this.”, she added. 

Smt. Irani along with other government officers gave answers of the queries raised by traders and businessmen. Minister assured them that for those who want to remain honest; there is no reason to be worried. 

The Minister of State for Women and Child Welfare of Government of Gujarat, Smt Nirmala Wadhwani, Members of Parliament Shri Paresh Rawal, Dr. Kirit Solanki and several other dignitaries were also present on this occasion.

To address the concerns of taxpayers arising from Transition to the GST

To address the concerns of taxpayers arising from Transition to the GST regime, the Government decides to extend the time limit for filing intimation for Composition Levy (filing of intimation FORM GST CMP-01) up to 16th August, 2017; The period of applying for Cancellation of Registration is being extended up to 30th September, 2017. 
The Government is mindful of the concerns of tax payers, especially the small taxpayers, arising from transition to the GST regime from 1st of July, 2017. 

With a view to ease the compliance burden of provisionally migrated small taxpayers opting to pay tax under the Composition scheme, it has been decided to extend the time limit for filing intimation for Composition levy (filing of intimation FORM GST CMP-01) up to 16th August, 2017. 

Similarly, the taxpayers who were provisionally migrated by virtue of being registered under the existing laws, but who are no longer required to be registered under GST, the period of applying for Cancellation of Registration is being extended up to 30th September, 2017. Relevant notifications are being issued.

Chiefs of staff committee Farewell Banquet For the Hon’ble President 
The Chiefs of Staff Committee hosted a farewell Banquet on 21 Jul 2017 in honour of the Hon’ble President and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. 

The Hon’ble Vice President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Raksha Mantri, Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri, Service Chiefs and other Senior Military and Civilian officials of the Services and the Ministry of Defence attended the Banquet. 

In a simple but elegant function held at the imposing Manekshaw Centre, the Hon’ble President, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces interacted with the senior military officers. 

The Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee & Chief of Naval Staff, thanked the Hon’ble President for his sagacity & stated that he had been a source of great inspiration to all personnel of the Armed Forces. The Hon’ble President, in his farewell address, extended his best wishes to all members of the Armed Forces and their families. He also paid rich tributes to the Martyrs and their families for their sacrifices to the Nation.
