Sleeping is necessary for a healthy body. But sleeping in unnecessary times may spoil our health, wealth and studies. Doctors advise that the sleeping at improper timings may lead for obesity during the students days.
What do you understand from the above examples ? Sleeping is  right but sleeping in wrong place, at the wrong time is absolutely wrong.

What is the reason for sleep during studies ?
There are three factors determines our sleep in both right or wrong times.

Health

Health is the prime factor which decides our sleep. Daily five to seven hours sleep is enough for a normal student. If you are a student with alergy, asthma you need to sleep more. So that you should not waste even a single minute and use your healthy times effectively. Over weight also cause some sleep disorders.Using the time effectively, they too can improve their study habits. Some students have sleep disorders they should use the available time effectively for studying. If your are a student who doesn't have the above said problems you are healthy and you can follow all the tips given here.

Food

If you are studying in the morning, take some light breakfast, some light snacks if it is in the evening. Avoid eating heavy meals as they can make your body and brain sluggish and this will lead you to  make you slow or feel sleepy.
During your study hours take juicy fruits like grapes and oranges.

Environment

Have proper lighting in your room. Keep your properties like bag, books, pen, notes etc. organized. Don't study with a fan blowing on your face as it dries your eyes and make you sleepy.

Scientific reason for sleep while reading or studying

Mostly of us, in our student life, whenever we sit to read, we used to sit in a relaxed position. It prevents physical activation, This causes stagnation of lactic acid in the cells. Since the lactic acid is a high oxygen absorbing agent, it quickly reacts with the oxygenated blood to reduce the flow of the blood to brain. Lack of oxygenated blood causes the brain to get tired. This automatically make us sleepy while studying.

Psychological reason for sleep while studying

Psychologically, you will feel sleepy whenever you try to study something you are not interested. You will not understand if you try hard to study that subject.

Tips to avoid sleeping while studying:
  • Sit in a straight position(Sit on a chair with flat back). Always try to sit on a uncomfortable desk. Comfortable cushion chair or bed may invite you to sleep.
  • Strictly avoid lying position as it instructs your brain to do two contrary tasks to sleep as well as to study. Finally, the instruction to sleep will win.
  • Take notes while you read. It will give some physical work to your body and keep your brain afresh.
  • Change your topic if you feel sleepy.Read some interesting subjects whenever you feel sleepy.
  • Change Your Siting positions frequently. It will stimulate your concentration level. Whatever the position can be but do not lean from your straight pose.
  • Walk and study for some time. The physical activity caused by this will keep afresh your brain.
  • Read loud whenever possible. But be careful it may not disturb your neighbour.
  • Avoid reading continuously with out break which will cause semi consciousness ( a hypnotic effect) and you can not understand anything in this process. After every one hour relax yourself for at least 10 minutes. You can swallow the things you studied during the last session.
  • Avoid keeping your eyes too much close to your books. It will lead you to fall asleep.
  • Do some easy exercises if you feel sleepy while studying.
  • Take small breaks during studies. Take 10 minutes brake during 1 hour continuous study. Drink some hot drinks in your study breaks.
  • Take a cold shower if your health is normal of Wash your face with some cold water.
  • Drink water eventually, so that you have to hit the restroom often. It will avoid sleepy mood. And water is good for health.
  • Study in groups to avoid sleep, it really works. If you are in hostel, join with the students who study sincerely. It will keep you away from sleep.
  • If you are feeling sleepy so much and could not control yourself, take a short time sleep (cat nap) Sleep for 15 mins to 30 mins. Use a good working Alarm Clock for your help and be rigid in keeping the alarm clock little away from your bed, so that you may not get tempted to switch it off  and sleep again.

How to Wake Up Early Morning and Prepare

By With No comments:
The researchers all over the world concluded that early morning is the best time for studies. Before the tips, I want to share my ideas about the advantages of getting up early in student life.

Develop your inner side

It is a proved fact that morning is the good time for self development. Admosphere will be quiet. You can develop yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Physical Exercise

With getting early, you will have enough time and energy for some physical exercise. You can do it in a professional gym or with in your home. Exercise really makes you fresh through out the day.

More productivity

Productivity is doing the things with full concentration and getting the expected results. Yes, getting up early will make you more smarter.

Meditation

Morning is the right time for meditation. Do some simple yoga and breathing excersices to keep your spiritual side streanghten.

Plan your life

Waking up in early morning and thing about your life goal and analyze yourself "am I in right track?". It really makes your life more successful.

Tips to wake up Early in the Morning
  • Early to bed, early to rise, make a man health, wealthy and wise. Really it is true.  I request my student friends to go bed early.Go to your bed at before 10 pm in the night because when you fall asleep faster you could wake up earlier as possible. It improves your productivity throughout the day.
  • Wash your hand and face with cold water or have a shower before going to your bed. It will help for a sound sleep.
  • Set your alarm for at least 2 or 3 times. For example if you plan to wake up in the early morning 4'O clock. set your first alarm at 3.50 am , second alarm at 3.55am and third alarm for 4.00 am. Consider the first alarm bell as an indication, second as a warning and before third you will be waken up.
  • Wash your face (brush if possible) soon after waking up. Failing which will send back to your bed soon.

Be a Smart Worker not Hard Worker

By With No comments:
I have come across some best candidates who used to study for a long time in the night, taking number of notes, reading until they get tired, staying in the library for hours and partially isolated from the fellow students and some time from the entire world to get good scores in any competitive Exam.

At the same time I know some candidates they could be seen with friends, no body can differentiate them from others. They play in the grounds, laughs with friends. But in the results only they stay unique from others.

While both hard workers and smart workers get same results. What makes a student smart ?, To be a smart worker what one should do ? . Have a look at the following picture and the table, you might get some understandings about being a smart worker.

Hard Work
Smart Work
More input more output.
Less input more output.
More physical efforts, less brain usage
More brain usage, less physical efforts.
Utilizing all the available sources to complete the work in a specified time.
Utilizing few sources to complete the work in less time.
Hard work means just working for some thing without knowing the technique involved in it.
In Smart work, a simple logic which can solve all the problems
In hard work the person only think about the completion of given work it doesn't mean how much time it takes.
But in Smart work, one finds easiest as well as most convenient way to complete a work as early as possible.
One who doesn't have more knowledge about his task does hard work.

Can be done only with complete knowledge about the task.
Doing things without using brain and takes long time and more physical stress to complete the things.
Doing the things by using brain in a short span of time with less effort.

"There were two wood cutters in a jungle one cuts trees for 12 hours and the other for 6 hours but the woodcutter that cuts the trees for less hours cuts the most trees. This was because he sharped his knife after every hour. Now you can easily differentiate between hard work and smart work."
Simple tips to be a Successful Smart Student.

Self Confidence : The most important requirement for being a Smart Worker is the Self Confidence. You should believe your self. You should believe you can be best. This belief will automatically direct you towards success.

Aim for High : You should define your aim in your life. Having a plan will make your travel easier. You should visualize yourself that you have reached the goal.

Be Organised : Being organised makes you perfect. It increases your self confident. It will raise your image among others.

Time Management : Have every thing at its time. Dont waste a single minute of your students life.

Think Positive : Positive thinking is a gift of life. Develop positive thinking. It will give strenght to face challenges in your student life.

How to avoid stress in your exam preparation?

By With No comments:
Stress is a mere stress when it is small and controllable. But when it grows and become big it will be very difficult to handle it. This is the reason for today's student suicides. Our mind can be compared to a baloon. As the baloon has a limited capasity to accomodate air and our mind also has a limit to bear stress if the stress becomes more that the limit it blasts like baloon. Some times our life come to an end like a baloon blast.

What are the reason for the Students Stress ?
  • If an assignment not completed in deadline
  • If you have not completed your portions for the examination
  • If there is not enough money to pay tuition fees
  • If some one who loves you fell ill
  • If you are away from your home thinking of your parents always
  • If some one hurts you

Does stress benefit ?

I can say yes. Stress can be divided in to lowlevel and high level stress. Low level stress is controllable and may be called as benifitial stress. It always end up in good outcome. For example, you have stress on finishing your assignments when they are announced not at the day before the deadline. You will complete the assignments day by day and will finish it before the deadline. If you have stress of your examination at the beginning of your academic year not the week before the final exams, you will study day by day and it brings you good results in your examinations.

Stress can be benifit, if it is given attention at right time. Thus it becomes benifitial. But, if your stress is not given attention in right time it becomes danger.

What are the symptoms of stress ?

  • Not interested in anything
  • Easily upseted mind
  • Eating too much, drinking too much, smoking or using drugs too much in effort to reduce stress. But these dont work really.
  • Growing inferiority complex, comparing others too much.
  • Feeling un healthy, some time fewerish and fell ill.

If you have the most of these symptoms you are in high level stress. As already discussed high level stress is very dangerous. You should find some immediate remedy to overcome your stress. Read the following tips which may help you to come out of stress.

How to avoid / overcome stress ?

Here are some tips to come out of your stress before it perish your life.
  • Meditation cures stress
Meditation is not a compex word. It is very simple. You all have to do a breathing excercise to reduce over stress. If you dont know how to do a breathing excersice. Google it and find some simple method. It really works.
  • Do some excercise
Doing some simple exercise like swimming, jogging etc. may calm your body and mind and your stress level may be reduced.
  • Drink lot of waters
By drinking plenty of water may relieve yourself from stress.
  • Sleep well
Have a sleep of atleast 7 hours during night. If you feel over stressed i the day time you can have a 1 hour nap (short time sleep). Sleeping gives you good relief as your brain get refreshed when you awake from a sleep.
  • Look in to yourself
You should understand one fact that you are the only reason for the stress you are in, and not your teachers, parents, friends or your environment. Sit and analyse yourself what else have made you this much of stress. Mostly you will find two words "Assault" and "Procrastination". Accept your failure and decide to avoid them in future.
  • Strictly avoid Inferiority Complex
Don't compare the better doers with you. Realise that you could have done better than them if you have utilized the time and opportunity better than them. So decide one day you will be better than them.
  • Manage your time now
Stress is the result of lack of time management. Thus now onwards plan your time effectively and strictly follow the plan and surely you will come out of stress.

Why should you follow study tips?

By With No comments:
TNPSC Portal has designed very unique modules of 'how to study tips' for students and aspirants of all kinds of competitive exams. But the page visit of those study skills articles are very low. So we have attempted this article to motivate you to follow some study skills and get success easily.

Study Skills are the techniques, tricks and some strategies that make you to study easily and with a feel of enjoyment. Study skills will change you from a Hard Working Student to 'Smart' Student. There is a big different between Hard Working and Smart. Hard working is like doing a work with out having a plan or procedure. Smart working is simply an organized work. The earlier wastes so much of time and energy but the later saves so much of times and energy. Let me note out some points I realized practically about 'Why Study Skills are essential ?'

To be Organised

Being organised is really a wonderful thing in our life, especially in students life. To be organised means doing every thing in respective time. It saves lot of time. It makes a student very smart. In later postings I will explain in detail 'How to be organised?'

To Enjoy Life

Whether you may be in school or college student or a  working youth, no one can refuse that student life is the most celebrating days in our life.  Everyone wants to enjoy each minute in student life. But in reality, stumbling stones are there in the form of assignments, home works etc. these things really make student life a more stressful rather that enjoyable. If you follow study skills, I promise really you will enjoy your precious days in your life.

To Save Time

'I don't have time' this is the mind voice of most of us during our student days. Are you feeling that you don't have time to play, to watch a movie or to spend time with your friends and relatives, don't worry ! you will have so much of time when you follow study skills.

To be master of your dreams

"Dream is not the thing you see in sleep but is that thing that doesn't let you sleep."
 -A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
Student days are the days of dream. When some one like your teacher or elders from your family ask you 'What you want to be in future ?' many of us reply the best but the days go our dream also goes out with out fulfilling. Being a smart student you can change your fate. Really you can be a master of your dreams not a loser.

There are so many things are to write. My final words for my dear student, you won't loss any thing by following study skills and certain strategies in your student life but it will bring an amazing change in you mentally, spritually and in all course of your life. Meet you in another post.

Now you can download the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2016 Hall Ticket from TNPSC 's Official Website www.tnpscexams.net .  You have very less days before you for the TNPSC Group 4 Exam .This is the time you should be tension free and revise the portions you have studied till date. Here I have given some Pre-Exam Preparation Tips for the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2016 aspirants.
1.Avoid studying new subjects or facts in the previous day of the exam . Even your friends may confuse you and misguide you to study some new portions, but it is better to avoid them and concentrate on revision.

2.Try to complete atleast one time revision of all portions you have studied till date.

3.Have a clear idea about the Examination centre. You need not visit there before the exam date (waste of time) . But ask your friends or relatives how to reach the place,  bus route, bus numbers, travel time etc.

4.Keep ready you hall ticket, pen, pencil etc at a same place together today itself.

5. Alocate minimum 7 - 8 hours for sleep in the previous day night of the examination.

6.Make sure your presence at the exam centre atleast 1 hour before the exam starting time.

7.Strickly avoid group discussion / group studies / chat with friends in the exam centre.

8.Be in the exam hall before half an hour of the exam time. To keep your mind free and steady , you may have a small prayer.

9. Fill up all your details (Register Number , Name, etc. ) very carefully and cross check them atleast two times after fillup.

10.When you start answering the questions, it is better to start with your favourite subject first. If you are very much confident in ' indian polity / economy / history related questions' attend all the areas under that first. If you are confident in the General Tamil / General English area , attend them first. It will  create a positive wave on you.

11. When you find any questions difficult , don't become tension, leave it and you may attend later. (Dont forget to mark that question  number in the rough work sheet )

12. Read carefully every questions. If you find any confusion or doubt in any question, try to read it in English also, you may get some clarity.

TNPSC Group IV 2016 Exam Tips

 Exam Hall Time Management

Proper Time Management in the Exam Hall will surely benifit you in your TNPSC Exams Success. Here I have listed some useful Time Mananagement Tips to be followed in the Exam Hall.
How many time for every single questions ?

There are generally,  200  Objective Type  Questions in the TNPSC Exams. You will be provided 3 Hours to attend all 200 questions.  The most fruitful idea is to divide the  Exam Duration by Total Number Of Questions.

[ 3 Hours =180 Minutes =     10800 Seconds,   ie,  10800 / 200 =  54 Seconds Per Question]

So you should spend    54 Seconds for Each Questions .

Actually, if you have prepared well, you may finish some questions with in 10 seconds , so remaining time you can use for tough questions in the aptitude area.

Prioritize Questions into Type 1, 2, 3

When you start answering questions, you may come accross some confused, tough or unknown questions. Commonly, candidates get struck at the particular questions and get tension and waste their precious time .

So I advise to prioritize questions into 3 catagories . It doesn't mean that you should read all questions before answering the questions.

You need to prioritise the Difficult Questions Only not all questions. And strictly answer the following kind of questions after answering all known questions only.

Type 1 :  Confused Questions

If you find some questions confused , note it in the rough sheet as category 1 and skip now. You may attend it after finishing all known questions.

Eg :  -   Type 1 : 23, 45, 77, 89 ....

Type 2 : Tough Questions

You feel this type of questions tough but you can answer them if have some time to think .

Eg :- Type 2 : 5, 8, 98 ....

Type 3 : Answers Unknown

Since TNPSC Current Exam pattern does not have negative marking system, you can answer this type of question as you want.

All the best !
