Vizag Steel Plant was conferred Navratna status on 17 November 2010. Qualification:
SSC with full time ITI / Diploma in Engineering in the following Trades/ Disciplines (60% marks in regular ITI / Diploma in Engineering for Gen/OBC candidates, 50% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates):
Mandatory Qualification: Matric / SSC + ITI/ Diploma in Engineering
Eligible ITI Trades (2 years and above duration) with NCVT Certificate:  Instrument Mechanic, Electronics, Electronics (Mechanical).
Eligible Diploma in Engineering Courses (conducted by State Board of Technical Education & Training): Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Diploma in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Diploma in Electronics Engineering, Diploma in Electronics & Communication Engineering
Preference will be given to Displaced Persons (DPs) of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP).
Female candidates are also eligible to apply.

Additional permissible qualifications:
Intermediate, B.Sc, B.Com, BA

Higher qualifications not permissible:
Professional degrees e.g., BE/B.Tech, BL, BHMS etc., MBA / Post Graduation or above.
