Project Title : Exploring and exploiting novel properties of high-pressure phase of Si for fabrication of low-cost, lightweight and high-efficiency photovoltaic cells.
Qualification : First class M.Sc. degree in Physics/ Materials Science and preferably with NET qualification (NET qualification includes CSIR, GATE, JEST and other qualifying exams conducted by the Central Government) or Postgraduate degree in Professional course (M.Tech).
Desirable: A good background in materials science and engineering (preferably in small scale mechanical characterization of materials), (and/or) High-Pressure Science and Technology, and Solid-State Physics. Hands-on experience of Nanoindentation characterization of materials, Diamond anvil cells studies, Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscopy, fabrication of TEM samples using Focussed Ion Beam system would be advantage.

Fellowship:
For NET qualified candidates - Rs. 25,000 + 20% HRA = 30,000/- per month for the 1st and 2nd Year. Based on the performance, JRF shall be promoted to SRF in the 3rd year and will be paid Rs. 28,000 + 20% HRA = Rs. 33,600 per month.
For non-NET qualified candidates: Rs. 16,000 + 20% HRA = 19,200 per month for the 1st and 2nd Year. Based on the performance, JRF shall be promoted to SRF in the 3rd year and will be paid Rs. 18,000 + 20% HRA = Rs. 21,600 per month
